SCRAPPA™ · WASTE MANAGEMENT · BOLTON
The hardest part of a garage or spare-room clear-out is often working out what is actually in the pile. Scrappa™ helps Bolton households and businesses arrange junk removal with a complete description, sensible preparation and collection access agreed in advance.

Describe cabinets, chairs and shelving, including anything behind the front row.

Count containers and explain the contents instead of describing everything as miscellaneous.

Include unwanted bed parts and storage furniture in the item list.
Separate possessions to keep from items for removal before deciding on the load size. A garage can look full because objects are spread across shelves rather than stacked together. Describe the actual contents and provide more than one view if sending photographs. Avoid including the same item twice in both a bag estimate and a furniture list.
Look behind tall cupboards, under benches and along the back of the garage. Tell us if the collection covers more than one storage space. If you cannot safely inspect an area, say so; do not disturb unstable stacks or enter unsafe loft spaces simply to improve an estimate.
Old tins, powders, fuel containers and unlabelled liquids need separate identification. Keep them out of ordinary junk bags until the correct handling has been confirmed. A general garage clearance should never imply that every substance stored in the garage can be removed as household clutter.
Freestanding shelving is different from a fitted workbench or wall-mounted storage. Explain which pieces are loose and which are attached to the building. Any dismantling must be requested, and building work should not be assumed. Clear cupboard contents before removal if doing so is safe and included in your preparation.
A driveway collection may still involve steps, a narrow garage door or a vehicle blocking the exit. Give those details at booking, including carrying distance and access through the house if there is no direct outdoor route. Keep pets and children away from the loading area during the work.
Books, tools, tiles and metal parts may be far heavier than an equally sized pile of packaging. Declare those materials, along with bulky furniture or appliances. If the pile contains renovation waste as well as stored belongings, separate the two descriptions so the collection can be planned for both.
Sorting often reveals another layer of items and sometimes reduces the load considerably. Update the booking if the final pile differs materially from the original description. Photograph the finished collection area and check the listed items before the visit rather than leaving scope decisions until the vehicle arrives.
Begin with the collection address. The price comes after you have entered the waste, access requirements and collection choices.

Use the full postcode and property details. BL1 is the Bolton example shown; enter your own postcode.

List the complete load, its quantities and any extras that affect handling.

Tell us about floors, stairs, loading distance and requested dismantling.

Select from the slots offered for your address and collection requirements.

Check the price breakdown and booking details, then confirm and pay securely.
A location name is only the start of planning a collection. Around Bolton town centre and the Queen’s Park area, explain which entrance serves your property and where loading may be possible. For properties near Chorley New Road and Queen’s Park, give the exact entrance and explain whether loading is reached from a different street.
For a flat, include the floor, lift size, caretaker arrangements and any booked loading window. For a house, describe side gates, rear yards, steps and separate storage areas. Never reserve a public loading position by obstructing the highway. Availability and the collection plan are checked using your actual address and declared load.
Homeowners, tenants, landlords and business contacts can use the service for an agreed collection. If you are arranging access for someone else, make sure you have authority to remove the items and a reliable contact for the day.
Describe everything that needs to go, including awkward items and additional work.
Give the floor, stairs, gate access and carrying distance before collection.
See the booking details and price breakdown before confirming payment.
A Waste Transfer Note is provided after completion for your collection record.
A loaded collection can suit a one-off clearance when you want an agreed load carried away in a visit. A skip may suit work producing waste over several days, provided you can load it and arrange suitable placement. Compare the actual material, access, labour and timing rather than assuming one option is always cheaper.
For eligible household items, Bolton Council also has a bulky collection service with its own conditions. Check those directly when comparing options. Scrappa collections are booked against the items and access you declare; specialist or restricted materials need agreement before booking. Do not mix unknown chemicals or suspected asbestos into an ordinary load.
A useful garage request might list three empty shelving units, six boxes of household contents, eight bags of light clutter and a dismantled bed frame. Identify unusually heavy or specialist items separately. This distinguishes the storage furniture from what is stored inside it and gives a clearer basis for assessment than garage full of junk.
If sorting is unfinished, explain the uncertainty before booking. Do not select a small visible pile while expecting the team to discover and empty the remaining storage. Tell us if shelves will stay, if items are spread across outbuildings or if the pile includes renovation debris. Unsafe stacks, damaged structures and unidentified containers need specific discussion.
The collection price reflects the type and amount of junk, access, handling, requested extras and collection choices. Review the breakdown before confirming payment. If final sorting reveals more waste, dense materials or additional bulky items, update Scrappa before the visit. Keep retained belongings apart from the agreed collection, and make sure the person meeting the team knows the final list.
Describe the contents, garage access and any heavy or unidentified materials before booking.
You need to explain the contents sufficiently for safe assessment. Do not open containers that may be unsafe.
State that they are fixed. Removal or dismantling needs prior agreement and is not automatic.
Identify the type, quantity and approximate weight so acceptance and handling can be checked.
Remove valuables and belongings you want to keep before collection. Do not rely on the team to identify them.
List it separately so its size, preparation and handling can be included.
Declare dense materials such as books, tools, tiles and metal rather than describing only the pile size. Material and weight can affect handling and the appropriate collection even when the volume is modest.
Retain your booking confirmation and invoice, together with the Waste Transfer Note provided after completion. Keep any agreed scope changes with the same records.
Start with your collection address, describe the whole job and check the available options. If anything is unusual, contact Scrappa before confirming so the collection can be arranged around it.
