SCRAPPA™ · WASTE MANAGEMENT · BOLTON
A trimmed hedge or cleared border can leave more waste than you expected. Scrappa™ helps you arrange garden waste removal in Bolton with a clear distinction between green cuttings and heavier landscaping materials, so the collection is matched to the pile you actually have.
Start your collection quoteBegin with the collection address. The price comes after you have entered the waste, access requirements and collection choices.

Give bag counts and describe loose or wet material.
Estimate pile dimensions and mention thick or unusually long pieces.
Declare these separately. Heavy materials need a different assessment from green cuttings.
Describe grass, leaves, hedge trimmings and branches individually where practical. Say whether the waste is loose, bagged or inside a container that must remain. A green bin or bulk bag is a container, not a waste type, so explain the actual contents before choosing a collection option.
Soil, turf, broken paving, rubble and stones should not be treated as ordinary garden greenery. Even a relatively small quantity can be very heavy. State these materials separately, including approximate amounts, and ask for advice when the right category is unclear. Do not hide heavy landscaping material underneath bags of leaves.
Measure approximate length, width and height rather than relying on how large a photograph looks. Include separate piles elsewhere in the garden. Loose branches occupy space differently from compacted cuttings, and wet material may weigh much more. Tell us if gardening is still continuing and the final pile has not yet been formed.
Give approximate lengths and diameters for substantial branches or logs. Mention roots, stumps and anything tangled with wire, fencing or soil. Do not undertake unsafe cutting just to reduce the apparent load. Work such as tree surgery, digging or dismantling structures should not be assumed to be included in collection.
Include side-gate width, steps, slopes, uneven paths and any carry through the house. Give the approximate distance to a safe loading position. If a shared passage needs a neighbour’s key, arrange that beforehand. Avoid putting the pile against a gate that needs to open for access.
Use sound containers and manageable quantities rather than overfilling sacks with wet or dense material. Keep the loading route clear and tell us if bags are damaged or leaking. Leave the waste within your property instead of placing it on a public path, and keep children and pets away from the collection work.
Gardening jobs can change quickly when a border clearance turns into paving or fence work. Let Scrappa know before collection if soil, rubble or timber has been added to a green-waste booking. Specialist plants, suspected contamination and unknown substances need separate advice before being included. Keep the agreed waste description current.
The material type, quantity, weight, access and required work all influence the quote. Bags of dry leaves and the same number of bags containing wet soil are very different collections even if they look similar in size.
As an example, describe eight bags of hedge cuttings, a separate loose branch pile and any soil or turf independently. Add the side-gate route and carrying distance, then review the booking breakdown and available collection choices before confirming.
Where garden work is ongoing, choose a collection after the agreed waste will be ready or discuss the uncertainty before booking. Contact Scrappa if the pile changes materially. Do not assume a general collection includes cutting vegetation, digging out soil or removing a standing structure.
Describe everything that needs to go, including awkward items and additional work.
Give the floor, stairs, gate access and carrying distance before collection.
See the booking details and price breakdown before confirming payment.
A Waste Transfer Note is provided after completion for your collection record.
A location name is only the start of planning a collection. Around Bolton town centre and the Queen’s Park area, explain which entrance serves your property and where loading may be possible. For homes near Chorley New Road and Queen’s Park, explain which entrance leads to the contents and whether loading access is on a different street.
For a flat, include the floor, lift size, caretaker arrangements and any booked loading window. For a house, describe side gates, rear yards, steps and separate storage areas. Never reserve a public loading position by obstructing the highway. Availability and the collection plan are checked using your actual address and declared load.
Homeowners, tenants, landlords and business contacts can use the service for an agreed collection. If you are arranging access for someone else, make sure you have authority to remove the items and a reliable contact for the day.
Describe the pile size and the length and thickness of substantial pieces so handling can be checked.
Declare it separately with an approximate quantity. Soil and turf require a different weight assessment.
Explain whether materials are loose or bagged. Agree the collection and handling requirements before confirming.
State the contents, quantity and whether the container must stay so the request can be assessed.
Do not assume excavation or gardening work is included. This booking is for the agreed waste collection.
Identify fencing, posts and attached materials separately from green waste so acceptance and handling can be considered.
Tell Scrappa if the condition changes materially before collection, especially for dense or waterlogged contents.
Describe the complete route, gates, steps and carrying distance. The arrangement depends on the declared access and work.
A loaded collection can suit a one-off clearance when you want an agreed load carried away in a visit. A skip may suit work producing waste over several days, provided you can load it and arrange suitable placement. Compare the actual material, access, labour and timing rather than assuming one option is always cheaper.
For eligible household items, Bolton Council also has a bulky collection service with its own conditions. Check those directly when comparing options. Scrappa collections are booked against the items and access you declare; specialist or restricted materials need agreement before booking. Do not mix unknown chemicals or suspected asbestos into an ordinary load.
Start with your collection address, describe the whole job and check the available options. If anything is unusual, contact Scrappa before confirming so the collection can be arranged around it.
